About the Mildura Monash General Practice Academy
Monash University School of Rural Health Mildura is offering a dedicated program for General Practice and Rural Generalist education and training. For the first time, students can complete a four-year graduate-entry medical degree entirely in Mildura.
This pathway ensures students are immersed in primary health care and connected with strong GP and Rural Generalist mentors, building a sustainable pipeline of future medical professionals who will remain and serve our region.

Scholarship Details
$100,000 Scholarship Program
Mildura Health is investing in the future of rural healthcare by offering 10 scholarships valued at $10,000 each to students who secure a place in the 2026 intake.
Scholarship funds are designed to assist with living costs, recognising the importance of enabling medical students to commit to full-time study.
- 10 scholarships available
- $10,000 per student ($5000 at the start of $5000 at commencement of second semester)
- For students commencing February 2026
- Supports living and other costs during full-time study

“Mildura Health has been a key supporter and advocate for introducing the first year of the medical degree in Mildura and was pleased to see Monash University awarded 10 Commonwealth Supported Places in the latest round of Federal Government funding,” says Gerard Op de Coul, Chief Executive, Mildura Health.
“A locally offered degree will support the growth and retention of well-trained medical practitioners in our region. Providing access to quality health care and skilled medical professionals to our members, patients, and the wider community is a strategic priority for Mildura Health.” He said.

All 10 successful candidates will be awarded the scholarship.
How to apply
Applications for the Scholarships will open to students who are successful in obtaining a place in the 2026 intake for the Monash Rural Health Mildura General Practice Pathway. Degree starts February 2026.
